Have you ever read Library Mouse by Daniel Kirk? It’s about a little mouse that lives in a public library and loves to read. One day he decides to write his own story (illustrations included) and place it in the library shelf. Soon, his books become so popular that the librarian puts out a notice inviting the mystery author to do a read aloud visit.

Well, once upon a not-too-long ago, 8-year-old Dillon Helbig had a similar idea. He wrote and illustrated a story about a time-travelling turkey and placed it on a library shelf. And it was such a good story that the librarians decided to keep it on the shelves as part of the collection.

As of February 3, 2022 there were 87 holds on Mr. Helbig’s book.
