Hidden Gems in Our Catalogue: Mr. Lemoncello

July 9 2020

Designed by the greatest board game maker in the world and built under great secrecy, the town’s new library is finally ready to open its doors to the public. A group of 12-year-olds are given the opportunity to spend the night at the library before opening day. The next morning, the kids awake to a surprise: should they choose to accept the challenge, they have 24 hours to find a way out of the library by only using what’s inside the building. The prize? Becoming the new face of Lemoncello Board Games. The game is on.

Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library is an upbeat adventure about the importance of libraries, friendship, and playing fair. Featuring a reluctant reader protagonist and a number of fun puzzles for the reader to solve along with the characters, the plot is filled with twists and turns and an ending we bet you won’t see coming!

At Bon Accord Public Library, we have the book in hardcopy, as a CD audiobook, and on our digital resource Oververdrive (as a digital book and as an audiobook).

If you enjoy the book, we also have other installments in the series (Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics, Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race, and Mr. Lemoncello’s All-Star Breakout Game).

The book is marketed for kids Grade 4-6, but its content is definitely age-appropriate for precocious readers as well as older readers who are fans of quick-paced stories and/or solving puzzles.
