If you’re a parent, you’re probably worried about your kids not getting enough reading time in. Or maybe you're just looking for a way to keep your little ones entertained.

 

Your library has a resource for that! It’s called Tumblebooks.

 

One of many e-resources available at the Bon Accord Public Library, Tumblebooks has everything from graphic novels and chapter books for the older kiddos to early readers. There are also picture books with read-along and read-aloud versions for the mini and extra-mini humans in your household.

 

Once you click on a title, you can see a blurb about the book, how long its read-aloud clip takes, what reading level it is, and even add it to your favourites! Those with very little kids will be happy to know that you can choose books based on the cover (which is how the “littles” like to pick), as every book has their cover displayed as well.

 

The kind of book you choose (graphic novel/chapter book vs. a picture book, for example) will change the format the book is presented in. All format options are very user-friendly and intuitive, as is the site itself.

 

Another plus is that the books you can choose from are very varied, from well-known titles like Geronimo Stilton and Robert Munsch, to award-winners like Mercy Watson, to lesser-known gems like The Librarian of Basra by Jeanette Winter.
